ASV's Posi-Track machines are so embedded in the Australian market that "posi-track" became the generic word for a compact track loader, and the RT-50 is the brand's mid-size all-rounder here. Its flexible rubber-track undercarriage runs dramatically lower ground pressure than conventional steel-embedded designs, which is why turf contractors and landscapers working finished lawns and sensitive surfaces pay the brand premium. Later production was repowered with a Yanmar engine, so early and late examples differ under the hood — worth confirming which you are looking at. The undercarriage is the key inspection item in both directions: its components differ from conventional track loaders, so price its condition with an ASV-literate eye rather than assuming standard replacement costs.

What a ASV RT-50 is used for

The ASV RT-50 is a mid-size Posi-Track loader — the low-ground-pressure machine that works finished lawns and sensitive surfaces other tracked loaders would damage.

  • Turf and landscaping on finished surfaces
  • Soft- and wet-ground earthworks
  • Residential block work
  • Attachment duty — levellers, augers, rakes

What Moves the Price

Adds the most

Attachment bundle

A 4-in-1 bucket, forks and an auger drive turn one machine into three. Machines sold with a genuine attachment set clear bare machines comfortably.

Clear premium

Tracks over wheels

Tracked machines carry a visible premium in the used market — soft-ground ability sells. The trade-off is track replacement cost, so track condition gets priced hard.

Spec that sells

High-flow + cab

High-flow hydraulics run the serious attachments, and an enclosed air-conditioned cab widens the buyer pool. Both lift resale.

Priced off the top

Tracks, tyres & pins

Worn tracks or bald tyres are the first thing a buyer quotes against the price. Loose pins and a rattly quick-hitch follow straight after.

RT-50 Price FAQ

What is a ASV RT-50 used for?
The ASV RT-50 is a mid-size Posi-Track loader — the low-ground-pressure machine that works finished lawns and sensitive surfaces other tracked loaders would damage.
How much does a ASV RT-50 weigh?
The ASV RT-50 has an operating weight of 2,349 kg.
What engine is in a ASV RT-50?
The ASV RT-50 is powered by Yanmar 3TN86CHT 3-cylinder turbo-diesel, 40.1 kW (53.8 hp).
How much is a new ASV RT-50?
New ASV machines like the RT-50 are usually sold price-on-application rather than at a published list price, so a new ASV RT-50 depends on spec, options and dealer. Once you have a quote, our equipment finance calculator estimates the monthly repayment.
What makes one RT-50 worth more than another?
Attachments first — a machine with a 4-in-1 bucket, forks and an auger outsells a bare one. Then tracks versus wheels, hours for age, high-flow hydraulics and cab spec. Track or tyre condition moves the final number hardest, because replacement is the known big cost.

Buying a ASV RT-50

Check it is not encumbered

A search shows whether someone else has registered a security interest over the machine — a financier who can repossess it after you have paid the seller — and whether it has been reported stolen or written off. It does not tell you what is owed, and it is not a valuation.

Skid steers commonly fall outside the register’s motor-vehicle definition, so searching the seller is the check that counts. Search against the seller rather than the machine: an individual by name and date of birth, or a business by its ACN.

Search the Personal Property Securities Register. The register publishes a case study on buying heavy construction equipment privately.
